Leaving Dublin, we begin our journey west towards the oldest licensed distillery in Ireland \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kilbeggandistillery.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Kilbeggan<\/span><\/a>. Here we\u2019ll learn everything about making Irish Whiskey, <i>uisce beatha<\/i> \u2013 the <i>water of life<\/i>, from the bog to the bottle. From there, we head towards the River Shannon and the town of Athlone just in time for lunch at Sean\u2019s Bar, the oldest pub in Ireland! Next up, the tiny village of Cong \u2013 made famous by the 1952 film <i>The Quiet Man<\/i> \u2013 before the scenic drive through the Maam Valley to Clifden. Tonight, we\u2019ll be spending our evening at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clifdenstationhouse.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Station House Hotel<\/span><\/a>, built in the style of a traditional Railway utility building. For a delicious dinner made from the freshest local ingredients, we recommend dining at the old Stationmaster\u2019s house.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"712\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1.jpeg 712w, https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 712px) 100vw, 712px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Day 2:<\/strong> This morning we head to the bustling seaside town of Galway, along the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wildatlanticway.com\/home\"><span class=\"s2\">Wild Atlantic Way<\/span><\/a>. Whether you decide to do a spot of shopping, watch the buskers perform on the streets or even get cosy with a <i>pint of plain<\/i> in one of Galway\u2019s many historic pubs, the <i>City of the Tribes <\/i>never disappoints<i>. <\/i>After lunch we visit the iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cliffsofmoher.ie\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Cliffs of Moher<\/span><\/a>. Stroll along the cliff top trails, take in the tremendous views, and don\u2019t forget to check out the visitor centre for C\u00e9ad M\u00edle F\u00e1ilte (a hundred thousand welcomes). We then make our way to Spanish Point for dinner at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.originalirishhotels.com\/hotels\/armada-hotel\"><span class=\"s2\">Armada Hotel<\/span><\/a> (where we\u2019ll also be staying over night) with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Not ready to call it quits? Top off the day with a perfect pint around a log burning fire at Johnny Burkes pub inside the hotel. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1307\" src=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-2.jpeg 712w, https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-2-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Day 3:<\/strong> After an Irish breakfast, we head down to the Kingdom of Kerry. With its craggy coastline, striking scenery and rich historical sites, you\u2019re spoiled for choice in this beautiful county. Once we reach the town of Killimer, we hop onto the Shannon Ferry making the journey into County Kerry where you experience the rugged nature of land and sea as you &#8211; ahhh &#8211; breathe the fresh, salty sea air. Keep an eye out, you might be one of the lucky ones and catch a glimpse of some dolphins. Once across, we continue to Tralee where we\u2019ll be visiting the <a href=\"http:\/\/kerrymuseum.ie\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Kerry County Museum<\/span><\/a>. A stroll through the Medieval Experience reveals the streets of Tralee as they were in 1450 AD with all the sights, sounds and robust smells of a bustling community. We then make the short trip to the lakeside town of Killarney where you\u2019ll have the afternoon and evening free to explore the town as you wish! After dinner, we recommend visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/J-MReidys-1417127511687143\/\"><span class=\"s2\"> J. M. Reidy\u2019s<\/span><\/a> for some live traditional music. Finally, it\u2019s time for some rest at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.riversidehotelkillarney.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Killarney Riverside Hotel<\/span><\/a> where you\u2019ll be staying the next two nights.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"712\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-3.jpeg 712w, https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-3-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 712px) 100vw, 712px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Day 4:<\/strong> Today we embark on one of the most scenic drives in Ireland &#8211; if not the world &#8211; the Ring of Kerry. Filled with picturesque landscapes, stunning coastlines and beautiful villages, you\u2019ll definitely be snap happy!. For lunch we\u2019ll be stopping in the beautiful town of Kenmare; with loads of lovely boutiques and cafes lining the streets, the choices are endless. Onward to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kissanesheepfarm.com\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Kissane Sheep Farm<\/span><\/a> for a truly memorable sheepdog performance. You\u2019ll get a chance to meet the sheep in their natural environment and see the amazingly skilled border collie dogs at work rounding them up! Bonus: in the spring, there\u2019s baby lambs to meet and in the summer months you experience how the sheep are shore. After that instant trip highlight, we head through the \u201cJewel in Kerry\u2019s crown\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.killarneynationalpark.ie\"><span class=\"s2\">Killarney National Park<\/span><\/a>. Sitting at the foot of Ireland\u2019s highest mountain range, Macgillycuddy Reeks, and home to Irelands only wild herd of red deer, the park is truly a spectacular spot of natural beauty. We then head back to the hotel before a bit of craic at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jarveys.ie\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Jarvey\u2019s Rest<\/span><\/a>, where we will enjoy a traditional Irish dinner and show. This lovely pub still contains its original wooden floors, stonewalls, beamed ceilings and open fires which all set the most perfect atmosphere for a wonderful evening of song and dance.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1309\" src=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-4.jpeg 712w, https:\/\/ritvacations.com\/scotland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/Attachment-1-4-300x169.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Day 5:<\/strong> Leaving Killarney today we head east towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blarneycastle.ie\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Blarney Castle<\/span><\/a> for a chance to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone and gain the gift of eloquence. However many legends there are of the origins of the stone, one thing is certain, the only way to experience the gift of the gab for yourself, is to kiss the stone! Hang about in Blarney Village for a spot of lunch and some shopping, after which we will make our way towards the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cashel.ie\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Rock of Cashel<\/span><\/a>. Legend has it the devil himself formed it when taking a bite out of a nearby mountain, breaking his teeth and then spitting the rock out which landed at the site in Cashel. However, the medieval buildings, built in 12<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\">, 13<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> and 15<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> century, that sit on the rock are the true sight to behold.
