Departure Point – Collection from outside the George Hotel in Edinburgh at 09:00am.
Meet your driver and Tour Manager in Edinburgh where we begin our tour. The first stop is the Royal Yacht Britannia, here we discover what life was like during Royal service on board this former floating palace. Afterwards we journey south to the Scottish Borders, where we explore this less travelled area, full of charming towns, castles galore and stunning rolling countryside. Here we visit Rosslyn Chapel, for a guided tour of this magnificent 15th century architectural masterpiece. Tonight, we enjoy our Welcome dinner at the hotel.

Abbotsford & Sheep Dogs
Monday
Our day begins at Abbotsford House, extraordinary home and ‘palace of the imagination’ of the 19th century novelist Sir Walter Scott. Next, we visit The Great Tapestry of Scotland which reveals Scottish history and culture as experienced, as well as shaped, by its people. Our final stop today is Neth Hill Border Collies, one of the most successful trainers and handler in the history of International Sheepdog Trials, here we are amazed at a demonstration of the working shepherd dog and the handler.

Alnwick & Lake Windermere
Tuesday
Today we jump across the border where our first stop at Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the Duke & Duchess of Northumberland, with over 950 years of history and the second largest inhabited castle in the UK. Next, we travel west along the area of the North Pennines, one of England’s most special places, an area of rugged beauty, boasting rugged landscapes that will take your breath away. Later we on the southern shore of Lake Windermere, where we spend the next 2 nights.

Wednesday
A day spent enjoying the area around Lake Windermere. We will have a leisurely cruise taking in magnificent views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and the many wooded islands. We also have time in one of the bustling towns offering a variety of shops, cafés, pubs and lakeside strolls. Next our visit is to Grasmere Gingerbread, here we learn about this unique culinary history and of course, a sample!

Lake District & Borders & Edinburgh
Thursday
Leaving the Lake District, we travel back across the border to Scotland, we stop in the historic spa town of Moffat. Here we visit Brodie’s of Moffat where we enjoy a scrumptious Afternoon Tea, then it is onwards to Edinburgh. We arrive at the central drop off point approximately 5:00 pm.
