Ireland – Beyond the Ordinary

Meet Sylvia and Tim for an included group airport shuttle from Niagara/Hamilton for our overnight non-stop flight to Dublin.

This morning we will meet our driver and guide and head north towards Belfast. Enroute, we stop at theMan O’ War Traditional Irish Pub for a welcome brunch and introduction from your guide. Arriving in Belfast, we undertake a panoramic tour of the Catholic Falls and Protestant Shankill Roads before arriving at our hotel. Tonight, you’re free to explore Belfast, and check out a few local establishments. After breakfast, we make our way to the Titanic Belfast Visitor Centre for a self-guided tour of the centre. After, you may wish to check out a few of the other local attractions such as Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast City
Hall and Queen’s University. Tonight, you will enjoy a delicious Ulster supper in the 16th century Old Inn in
Crawfordsburn.

Today, we head north along the Antrim Coast for a visit to the famous Giant’s Causeway. Enroute, we make a
stop in the Forest Park where you can enjoy a tea or coffee with some freshly baked scones. We continue along the Antrim Coast until we reach the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre. According to local legend, Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill built the causeway to fight the Scottish giant Benandonner. Our journey takes us north to the city of Derry, where we are met by a local guide who will lead us on a fascinating walking tour of the ‘Walls of Derry’. After the tour, you check in to your city centre hotel that is ideally located in the town centre with many good restaurants and pubs just steps from your front door.

We will visit Irish House in Donegal, where we are treated to an Irish coffee and a loom demonstration. We journey to the lovely town of Sligo where you will have time for lunch and take a stroll around town before arriving at Lough Rynn Castle, one of Ireland’s top luxury castle hotels. Tonight, we are treated to a meal fit for royalty in the beautiful surroundings of the Sandstone Restaurant at the hotel.

Leaving Lough Rynn, we travel to Strokestown Park, the former estate of the Mahon Family and now home of the National Famine Museum. We continue south to Galway, where we are met by a resident guide who will entertain us with tales of local legends and characters on a walking tour of The City of Tribes while pointing out some of the best places to eat and drink in the town centre. After dinner at the hotel, you can put all this knowledge to use as you venture out to enjoy a night on the town.

This morning we leave Galway along the Wild Atlantic Way and make our way to the seaside town of Doolin.
Here we will board a ferry to Inis Oírr the most easterly of the Aran Islands. Our cruise back to the mainland takes us along the mighty Cliffs of Moher where you will gain a unique view of the cliff s from the Atlantic. In Doolin we are met by Ollie who will take us on a mouth-watering food tour of West Clare, where you will meet producers of local produce, ending with a fish supper on the pier.

Heading south, we take a panoramic tour of Limerick, home of King John’s Castle and the real-life setting
of Frank McCourt’s book Angela’s Ashes. We stop in the picturesque village of Adare, so you may take a
few photos of the thatched roof cottages that line the main street. After checking into your Killarney hotel
your evening is at leisure, so make sure you explore the town and catch some of the live acts in the local pubs.

After breakfast we are met by a group of local jarveys to take a jaunting car ride through Killarney National Park. Next, we embark on one of the most scenic drives in Ireland, if not the world, the Ring of Kerry. As we make our way around the twists and turns of the Ring you will have plenty of opportunities for photos as well as tea or coffee in one of the many villages along the route. Our lunch stop will be the colourful town of Kenmare, where several boutiques and cafes line the streets. From here we head to Kissane Sheep Farm where we are treated to a delightful display of sheepdogs hard at work herding their fl ock. This evening we have dinner in our hotel followed by the Gaelic Roots Show, a traditional Irish show in Killarney.

Today is yours to discover Dublin using your Hop On/Hop Off sightseeing ticket. Your entrance to the EPIC Museum is included and you can visit this attraction at your leisure. Other places of interest include the library at Trinity College to view The Book of Kells, Kilmainham Gaol, Phoenix Park, and Glasnevin Cemetery. (Book of Kells and Kilmainham must be pre-booked.)
